Our first major project followed extensive engineering works which closed the village's Torr Road for many months. Torr Road is an important thoroughfare to the village and the work was essential. But it left a significant area looking like a derelict building site. The area was partially re-instated by the contractors, but only to a basic, utilitarian extent. Brighter Bridge of Weir saw an opportunity to make a significant difference to it and so we pounced! In the three years since, the area has been transformed into a community garden which is also a haven for bees - a vitally important part of our ecosystem which are currently under threat.

Great oaks from little acorns grow, they say, and from that Torr Road 'acorn' grew Brighter Bridge of Weir. We haven't become a tree of course, but we have branched out a lot.
