About us

We are a pro-active group of volunteers whose aim is to enhance the visual appearance of our village. Working in partnership with local residents, local businesses, community groups, youth organisations and the local authority, we have identified areas in and around the village that have been neglected and aim to improve them.

We have already cleared and cultivated several areas and planted bulbs, shrubs and grasses, and we have acquired, installed and planted up a significant number of street planters - you can see some of the results in our picture gallery.

But there's more to creating a brighter Bridge of Weir than simply planting shrubs and flowers. We consider the need to encourage wildlife, paricularly polinating birds and insects, and to encourage wildflowers, too. We also lobby Council departments and community funding groups to help us achieve the means to make all our public areas look and feel bright and welcoming, all year round. We receive donations from local businesses and residents who appreciate what we do, and we hold our own fund-raising initiatives, such as our annual Fun Casino night.

None of us is paid for our work - every penny that we receive is spent on enhancing Bridge of Weir. And we source all of our supplies and materials from local businesses whenever possible.
